YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Vinukonda to console the family of a murdered YSR Congress leader. While the police stated that the murder resulted from personal rivalry, Jagan alleged it was post-election violence and blamed the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for the incident.
TDP leaders, however, accused Jagan of using the Vinukonda visit as an excuse to avoid a court hearing. Former Minister N Amarnath Reddy took to X (formerly Twitter) to claim that Jagan’s visit was deliberately scheduled to coincide with a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court hearing in Visakhapatnam.

Since becoming Chief Minister in 2019, Jagan has frequently avoided court appearances related to his Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) cases as well as the Kodi Kathi case. His legal team often cites his busy schedule as a reason for his absences filing petitions to excuse him from attending court.
In 2020, the court denied Jagan a blanket exemption from appearing in court for his disproportionate assets case. Despite this, the CBI court grants him weekly exemptions. In the Kodi Kathi case, the accused received bail after Jagan repeatedly failed to attend court and provide a statement. The accused had already spent over five years in jail, with the NIA concluding that there was no criminal conspiracy involved.
Meanwhile, the accused, Srinivas attended today’s court hearing in Visakhapatnam. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for August 16th.
