While the YSR Congress Party pointed fingers at the Telugu Desam Party for vote rigging, the behavior of its own members, exemplified by MLA destruction of an EVM, has brought their credibility into question.
Getting in to the news, on the day of the Andhra Pradesh elections, several leaders from the YSR Congress Party (YCP) accused the opposition Telugu Desam Party of vote rigging. However, the reality for some YCP leaders has been troubling, as illustrated by a recent incident involving YCP MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy.
A viral video has emerged showing MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy caught on camera breaking an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). This footage, captured on CCTV, reveals the MLA physically smashing the EVM to the ground, prompting outrage from the opposing party’s polling agent.
During the polling in Macherla, both the TDP and YCP engaged in a blame game, accusing each other of electoral irregularities. The incident with MLA Pinnelli adds a significant twist to these allegations. The fact that a sitting MLA would resort to such actions is not only surprising but also raises serious concerns about the integrity of the polling process.
After the polls, MLA Pinnelli was notably absent from his constituency, a fact that the opposition party seized upon for criticism. The video of him breaking the EVM has been widely shared on social media, further fueling the controversy.
