Yash’s Toxic lands in legal trouble
The movie Toxic, starring Yash, has encountered legal trouble due to the Karnataka Forest Department’s action against its producers. An FIR was filed against the production team for allegedly cutting trees illegally on forest land to build sets for the movie. This case also includes the General Managers of Canara Bank and Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT), indicating broader accountability among organizations involved in the land where the deforestation occurred.
The controversy began when Karnataka’s Environment Minister, Eshwar Khandre, visited the filming site in Peenya. Using satellite images, he observed significant deforestation, which prompted him to call for stringent measures against those responsible. According to him, hundreds of trees were cut down without proper authorization, an act punishable by law.

Khandre expressed disappointment, noting that the filming was taking place on forested land managed by HMT, and stated that he would pursue legal actions to address these environmental violations. He stressed the importance of preserving forest areas and warned that anyone found guilty of violating forest protection laws would face serious consequences.
Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, is marketed as “A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups.” Yash, one of the movie’s lead actors, explained the unique title choice in an interview, mentioning that fairy tales are usually aimed at children. He thought it would be interesting to create a fairy tale that adults could also appreciate, which led to the unusual title and tagline. The movie is set for release on April 10, 2025.
In a bid to enhance the film’s action sequences, Toxic has enlisted JJ Perry, a renowned action director known for his work on John Wick.
