Ever since the Tollywood market expanded, all eyes are on the US market. Some producers are stitching together stories that are tailor made to suit the NRI audience. But, not every film is successful. Only a handful of films get profits for the buyers.
With the budgets of the films shooting up, the producers are more worried and more circumspect these days. Even films like Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava and Naa Peru Surya, which did fairly good business locally, failed to get returns for the buyers of the US market. Aravinda Sametha touched 2 million mark, but the distributor could not break even. He need another half million dollars through collections to reach the break even.
The outcome of these two films could impact the business of Maharshi, Sye Raa and Saaho. Put together, these three films are expected to do Rs 700 crore worth of business. For all these films, the US market is very crucial. But, will the buyers be prepared to shell out the fancy amounts the makers are demanding? Even film like NTR biopic too has high expectations from the US market.
