Will Allu Arjun’s desire turn into a risk
Allu Arjun has built a strong fan base with both romantic and mass-action films. Early in his career, he gained fame as a “lover boy” with movies like Arya and Arya 2, which became cult classics. Films like Desamuduru, Parugu, Julayi and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo further strengthened his romantic image. However, with the massive success of Pushpa, he has transitioned into a pan-India superstar known for high-action, mass-entertainment films.
Despite this shift, reports suggest that Allu Arjun still has a deep interest in love stories. During a conversation with music director Devi Sri Prasad, he reportedly expressed his wish to do a classic romantic film with six melodious songs. He believes that love stories leave a lasting impact on audiences, as seen with films like Devadas and Geethanjali.
However, returning to a romantic film at this stage of his career could be risky. Once an actor establishes a mass image in the pan-India market, shifting genres can be challenging. A recent example is Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam which failed to impress audiences despite being a grand love story. Fans and trade analysts believe that Allu Arjun must carefully choose his next projects, especially after the expectations set by Pushpa 2.
While a well-crafted love story could work, balancing it with his mass image is crucial. He may opt for a film that blends action and romance rather than a pure love story. The coming years will reveal whether he takes the leap or continues his journey as a mass-action hero.
