Actor Suhas is not someone who has a ripped physique, nor does he have a fair skin that Tollywood boasts upon. Take his all previous performances, all were unheroic compared to the standards of commercial Telugu cinema. Yet, he strikes a chord with his craft. His last outing ‘Colour Photo’ brought him closer to audiences.
Starting his career as a supporting actor, he didn’t limit himself to staying there. He proved that he alone can shoulder the story. ‘Colour Photo’ , which was released on OTT during the lockdown, is a masterpiece of his film career. Audiences called it a “story without a hero”. And now, he came with another quirky coming-of-age story ‘Writer Padmabhushan’. It took him more than three years after ‘Colour Photo’. He waited patiently for his chance. Unlike heroes who drifted into the trap of commercial film, Suhas stayed and waited patiently.
Although ‘Writer Padmushan’ has nothing great as far as the screenplay is concerned, but the twist would make audiences weep. Unlike other actors in the game, he doesn’t elevate the mood nor does he have the looks of a romantic hero. His performance looks very unheroic yet he makes the difference. Why his experiments reach beyond expectations, if not in numbers, he certainly leaves a lasting impact in the end.
Directed by software engineer-turned-filmmaker Prashanth, ‘Writer Padmabhushan’ is a simple story from in the middle-class family in Vijayawada city. Whether you’re a newbie or not an experienced screenwriter, the treatment is all matters in the end when it is painted on the screen. In the weeks to come, the film is expected to earn good revenues at the box office.
