Why Salaar didn’t match Pushpa 2’s success
Pushpa 2 has become one of the biggest hits in the film industry, expected to earn around 600 to 700 crores at the box office. However, many are puzzled as to why Salaar, despite its dedication and effort, didn’t achieve similar success. Salaar was made with a strong focus on world-building and plot development, with a lot of hard work put into its creation.
On the other hand, Pushpa 2, despite its popularity, has faced criticism. Some argue it lacks technical finesse and is considered by critics as a movie appealing mostly to mass audiences with lower expectations. Many cinephiles believe that the film could have been made much better.

Salaar’s underperformance in the Hindi market, where it barely earned 150 crores, can be attributed to its unfortunate timing. The film was released around the same time as Dunki, and both movies struggled to make an impact. If Salaar had been released alone, it might have had a better chance of succeeding.
While Pushpa 2 has performed well in the North, its appeal largely depends on the hero worship and grandeur, which resonated with audiences there. If marketed correctly, Salaar could have achieved similar success.
Ultimately, it’s not just about the box office numbers. Pushpa 2’s success doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a technically superior film. It’s the marketing and timing that played a significant role in both films’ reception.
