Sridevi, often called the Atiloka Sundari or the most beautiful actress in the world was a renowned star in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi films. Her impressive career included collaborations with major stars like NTR, ANR, Krishna, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh. However, one notable omission from her list of co-stars was Balakrishna, the son of NTR.
Fans of both actors were excited about the prospect of seeing Balakrishna and Sridevi on screen together but this never happened. Recent comments from Balakrishna provide some insight into this mystery. As he marks 50 years in the film industry, Balakrishna discussed various aspects of his career and personal life in a recent YouTube interview.
Balakrishna revealed that the lack of collaboration with Sridevi was simply a matter of chance rather than any specific reason. He explained that the selection of actors for a film is crucial, and he felt that casting Sridevi in a less significant role would not do justice to her talent. He preferred that if Sridevi was part of a film, it should be for a story that truly matched her extraordinary stature.
He reminisced about the film Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, where Sridevi starred alongside Chiranjeevi. Balakrishna praised Sridevi’s performance in that movie, suggesting that her role was fitting of her legendary status. He felt that having her in a film with a less compelling story might not have done justice to her exceptional talent.
On the work front, Nandamuri Balakrishna is currently busy filming his 109th film directed by Bobby, which will be released in both Telugu and Hindi.
