In 2022, popular actor Vijay Deverakonda made his Bollywood debut with Liger, directed by Puri Jagannadh and co-starring Ananya Panday. Released in both Hindi and Telugu, the film generated substantial social media buzz, but its box office performance fell short. Reflecting on this setback, Vijay revealed how he pushed himself to move forward.

In a past interview, as reported by ETV Bharat, Vijay spoke about his response to Liger’s failure. He admitted that his approach and mindset hadn’t changed much, but he had chosen to impose a self-discipline. “For my next three films, I won’t discuss their performance before release,” he said, describing this as his form of “punishment.” He explained this decision during the promotions for his upcoming film, Family Star, with actress Mrunal Thakur in Hyderabad. This attitude highlights Vijay’s commitment to learning from each experience.

Before Liger’s release, Vijay had confidently predicted its success, even envisioning a box office milestone of Rs 200 crore. However, despite the hype around this pan-Indian film, critics and audiences responded with disappointment. The movie didn’t live up to expectations, leading Vijay to approach his career with a renewed perspective.

Currently, Vijay is preparing for two new projects, tentatively titled VD 12 and VD 14, both of which are highly anticipated. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, VD 12 is set to release on March 28, 2025. Additionally, Vijay is working with director Ravi Kiran Kola for another action film. He introduced these upcoming projects on his birthday, exciting his fans and signaling a fresh start.

Meanwhile, Vijay was recently seen in a cameo role as Lord Arjuna in Kalki 2898 AD, a star-studded film featuring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan. His future line-up reflects his commitment to both challenging himself and evolving his career in meaningful ways.
