The 2001 Telugu film Kushi, starring Powerstar Pawan Kalyan and Bhumika Chawla became a massive hit. Directed by SJ Suryah, the film is remembered for its engaging storyline, Pawan Kalyan’s adorable acting, and memorable music composed by Mani Sharma. Produced by AM Ratnam, Kushi left a lasting impact on audiences, and years later, the idea of a sequel came up.
Director SJ Suryah recently revealed that he had written a story for Kushi 2 and presented it to Pawan Kalyan. During the promotions of his upcoming movie Saripodha Sanivaram, Suryah shared that he had approached Pawan Kalyan with a love story that carried the vibe of Kushi. Initially, Pawan was interested in the project and agreed to work on it after completing his ongoing commitments. However, over time, he changed his mind.
Pawan Kalyan explained that his focus had shifted and he was no longer keen on doing love stories. Although Suryah was disappointed, he respected the decision but expressed his belief that Kushi 2 could have been another blockbuster if it had materialized. He added that despite his disagreement, he moved on by understanding that Pawan Kalyan had chosen a different path.
Meanwhile, Saripodha Sanivaram, starring Nani and Priyanka Arul Mohan, is set for release on August 29th in multiple South Indian languages. Suryah is actively promoting the film alongside Nani.
