When Sai Pallavi cried for a day off on sets of Shyam Singh Roy
Sai Pallavi recently shared an emotional experience from the set of her 2021 film Shyam Singha Roy, where she played Maithreyi, a role that left a deep impression on fans. In a conversation with Galatta Plus, she opened up about the challenging filming schedule, which included consecutive night shoots that made it hard for her to rest. Despite her dedication, the constant work without a break eventually led her to tears, wishing for just a day off.
As Pallavi described, the night shoots stretched on for nearly 30 days. Since she’s not used to staying up at night, this routine was exhausting. She said, “I’m someone who can’t sleep during the day. Imagine working all night and then being up again the next day. This wasn’t for just a couple of days; it went on for almost a month. At one point, I remember crying and thinking, ‘I love acting, but I just wish I could get one day off.’”

Although she felt the strain, Pallavi kept her feelings to herself, not wanting to burden anyone on set. Eventually, her sister noticed her distress and approached the film’s producer, asking him to give Pallavi a day off. Surprisingly, the producer was very understanding and even offered her several days off, expressing concern for her well-being.
The crew members held her in high regard, treating her kindly, and supported her need for a break. This compassion helped Pallavi continue her work with renewed energy. Recently, her role in Amaran alongside Siva Karthikeyan has garnered praise, especially for her performance as Indhu Rebecca Varghese, the wife of Major Mukund Varadarajan in a biographical war drama, further solidifying her place in audiences’ hearts.
Sai Pallavi’s dedication to her roles and her ability to portray complex emotions continue to impress fans, marking her as one of the most beloved actors in contemporary cinema.
