Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja recently came out with a film titled Mr. Bachchan, directed by Harish Shankar. However, the movie, which is an official remake of the Hindi film Raid, didn’t meet the expectations of many fans. Among the criticisms, one major point is the portrayal of the heroine, played by Bhagyashree Borse.
In a past interview, Ravi Teja made a strong statement about how important it is for female characters in his films to have substantial roles that add to the storyline. His words are now going viral again.
“If you notice in my films, the heroine won’t be there just for the sake of it. I don’t like having them only for songs or glamour. A film is better when the heroine plays a strong character,” Ravi Teja had stated.
These remarks are now coming back to haunt him as some netizens are calling him out. They argue that Ravi Teja either doesn’t watch his films or doesn’t pay attention to the scripts he chooses. They mention that since Krack, had a strong heroine role, most of his films have reduced female characters to mere eye candy, limited to song sequences and glamor without any real impact on the plot.
This change has upset a lot of Ravi Teja’s fans, who are now openly expressing their disappointment. They are hoping that Ravi Teja will soon return to making films where every character, especially the heroines, plays a meaningful role.
On a professional front, Ravi Teja is currently working on a new film with a debut director, where Sreeleela is the lead actress.
