Geetha Govindam featuring Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda, remains a beloved film even six years after its release. The romantic comedy directed by Parasuram Petla won hearts with its captivating storyline and the on-screen chemistry between the lead actors. However, there’s a lesser-known story about how Rashmika was brought to tears during the shoot which she later revealed in an interview.
Rashmika who made her debut in the Sandalwood industry in 2016 shared a memorable experience from the set of Geetha Govindam. During a 2019 interview, she recalled an incident where the director, Parasuram, played a prank on her that left her emotional. She explained, “One day, I was a bit late to the set. When I arrived, everyone ignored me, and I felt embarrassed. I couldn’t understand what was happening and started crying.”
The prank, although intended as a joke, left Rashmika genuinely upset. Even when the director tried to console her and revealed it was all in good fun, it took her some time to regain her composure. Reflecting on the experience, Rashmika said, “I was shocked when I found out it was just a prank. It took me a while to process it.”
Released in 2018, Geetha Govindam became a blockbuster hit. The film not only marked the first collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna but also redefined romance in Telugu cinema. Audiences were captivated by the charming love story and the engaging performances of both actors.
Following Geetha Govindam, Rashmika and Vijay reunited for Dear Comrade in 2019. Although this film had a different tone, their pairing once again garnered attention.
In recent times, both Rashmika and Vijay have been flourishing in their careers. Rashmika, in particular, has several high-profile projects lined up. The most awaited is Pushpa 2: The Rule, where she will once again share the screen with Allu Arjun in Sukumar’s directorial. Additionally, she is set to star in Kubera alongside Dhanush. Rashmika’s Bollywood journey also continues with two exciting films: Chhava, where she pairs with Vicky Kaushal, and Sikandar, in which she will star alongside Salman Khan.
On the other hand, Vijay Deverakonda is also gearing up for big releases. He recently announced his collaboration with Ravi Kiran Kola for an action-packed film. Vijay is also working on the much-anticipated project VD12 with director Gowtam Tinnanuri, which is set to release on March 28, 2025.
