When Ram Charan revealed why he won’t choose Hollywood
Ram Charan, the acclaimed pan-Indian actor known for his role in RRR, has garnered a massive fan base both in India and abroad. Recently, during an event in Jammu and Kashmir focused on film tourism, he addressed questions about potentially entering Hollywood. In a candid moment, he expressed his commitment to Indian cinema, stating, “I want to explore India more and I don’t think I would want to travel anywhere else for my films unless the producer or director is from Hollywood.”
The Game Changer star emphasized the importance of Indian culture and storytelling. He believes that Indian narratives possess a unique dignity and richness. He further stated, “It’s not about South Indian or North Indian movies; it’s about stories from Indian mitti ka (soil). These stories are finally being recognized on a larger scale.”
This isn’t the first time Ram Charan has commented on the idea of Hollywood. In a past interview, he acknowledged the allure of Hollywood but maintained that his roots lie firmly in Indian cinema. While he has entertained discussions about potential projects in Hollywood, he remains focused on contributing to the Indian film industry, which he believes is filled with untapped stories and cultural significance.
Ram Charan has openly expressed admiration for Hollywood icons like Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt. When asked about the possibility of being compared to Pitt, he humbly noted that while he respects the actor, he doesn’t see himself as his equivalent. This reflects his grounded nature despite his global recognition.
Moreover, he pointed out a shifting trend in the film industry, suggesting that the gap between Hollywood and Indian cinema is narrowing. He envisions a future where films from different countries blend, creating what he calls “global cinema.”
