Nani who is currently promoting his upcoming film Saripodhaa Sanivaaram revealed interesting details in a recent interview.
In a recent interview actor Nani shared an interesting story about his initial thoughts on Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. The actor initially believed that Jawan was a remake of his film.
During the interview, Nani discussed his current project and reflected on his past work. When asked about which of his films might work well as a remake in Bollywood, Nani expressed his views on the matter. He mentioned that Hi Nanna, another one of his popular films, would not be a good choice for a remake. According to Nani, “Hi Papa (Hi Nanna) is a very popular film. It was big, and I think everybody watched it in Hindi. A remake of it won’t work.”
Nani then touched on other films that could be suitable for a Hindi remake. He mentioned Nenu Local and the Gang Leader. About Gang Leader, Nani revealed, “When I saw the trailer of Jawan with Shah Rukh sir and the five women, I initially thought it was Gang Leader. After I watched it, then it was not but just an idea like it.”
Discussing the possibility of turning Gang Leader into a franchise, Nani said that there have been no discussions about it. He acknowledged the film’s enduring popularity, particularly appreciating the elements involving the five women and the character Pencil. He noted, “I think more than the time in the theater, over time, it has gotten more popular.”
Nani also shared his thoughts on other films of his that could work as remakes. He mentioned Ante Sundaraniki, Shyam Singha Roy, and Dasara, expressing that some, like Dasara, would be difficult to remake. He also suggested Pilla Zamindar and Ashta Chamma as potential options. Ashta Chamma is notable as it was Nani’s debut film in Telugu, adapted from Oscar Wilde’s play The Importance of Being Earnest.
Currently, Nani is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, directed by Vivek Athreya. The film is set to hit theaters on August 29, 2024.
