Karan Johar’s directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was a cult film. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Salman Khan, the film revolved around friendship and was a love triangle. Released in 1998, hailed as a blockbuster and even the music went on to become chart-buster to this day. However, not many know that Salman Khan who played Aman’s role was first offered to Chandrachur Singh.
Chandrachur Singh has now opened up on rejecting the film and calling it a ‘loss’. He went on to say that film is ‘very nice and cult film’ and ‘what was meant to be, was meant to be’ He summed up stating that his decision had made him to learn. Meanwhile, Karan Johar had went on to reveal in Zee TV’s talk show, ‘Yaaron Ki Baaraat’ how many actors turned down Aman’s role and approached Chandrachur Singh believing that he would take up but eventually got disappointed. He said, “I had thought of casting Chandrachur Singh in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai after three other actors rejected the role. I was told nobody wants to do the role and I was already stressed. So I went to give Chandrachur a narration and after the first day, he asked me to call him and meet the next day.”
He added, “When I called him a day later, he told me he would do the film and asked for a complete narration. I went all the way from Malabar Hill to Seven Bungalows and then, even before I could start, he refused to do my film. I just thought he could have told me that on the phone and saved my two hours of travel time.
