When Balakrishna and Prabhas went head-to-head
In the Telugu film industry, Balakrishna and Prabhas are known for their massive fan base and box office success. Balakrishna often faces fierce competition from younger heroes. However, Prabhas, now a pan-India star, once competed directly with Balakrishna’s films.
When Balakrishna’s Lakshmi Narasimha was released during Sankranti, Prabhas’ Varsham also hit the screens. Despite facing competition from senior stars like Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi, Varsham turned out to be a blockbuster. It established Prabhas as a strong contender in the industry. On the other hand, Lakshmi Narasimha also emerged as a massive hit, making the competition intense.
Later, a similar scenario occurred when Prabhas’ family entertainer Darling was released. Balakrishna’s Simha, directed by Boyapati Srinu, also came out during the same period. Both movies achieved tremendous success drawing large audiences. While Darling won family audiences with its light-hearted story Simha appealed to mass moviegoers.
These box office clashes are rare but both actors managed to emerge victorious. Film analysts often highlight these instances as examples of healthy competition. Today, Prabhas has expanded his reach with pan-India movies while Balakrishna continues to entertain Telugu audiences with his powerful roles. Their success stories remain an inspiration in the industry.
