What Chiranjeevi felt Lucifer needed new approach
Megastar Chiranjeevi known for picking meaningful scripts wasn’t fully satisfied with the Malayalam film Lucifer even though it was a big hit. He felt the story needed a stronger connection for the Telugu audience. That led to the idea of making GodFather, a remake with more impact and emotion.
Chiranjeevi once said, “I was feeling stuck doing similar commercial films and wanted to try something different. That’s when Charan approached me with the idea of remaking Lucifer in Telugu. I was instantly intrigued.” Director Mohan Raja joined the team and the journey of GodFather began.
Though Lucifer had a good political storyline, Chiranjeevi believed it needed more depth. “When I watched Lucifer, I felt it lacked something. The ending, in particular seemed abrupt and I wasn’t completely satisfied with the way the story unfolded,” he said. So with the help of writer Laxmi Bhupal and director Mohan Raja, they rewrote the script to suit Telugu sensibilities.
Mohan Raja added, “We made several significant modifications. The original had a unique storytelling style but we altered certain elements to enhance the emotional depth, the political backdrop and the action sequences.” They focused on improving the pacing, character development and emotional scenes.
The result was GodFather, a movie that kept the audience hooked from start to finish. It wasn’t just a remake, but a reimagined story that stood on its own. The film received praise for its sharp screenplay, solid performances and engaging narrative.
Thanks to Chiranjeevi’s vision and the creative team’s effort, GodFather proved to be more than just an adaptation—it became a fresh and thrilling experience for Telugu movie lovers.
