“It gives me so much pleasure to deliver what fans really want. I enjoy every bit of commercial cinema. I reciprocate with fans and how they would want me to see. When I started my career, I would always want to do diverse characters on the screen. That’s why I happened to meet K Viswanath garu thus we manifested ‘Subalekha’ in 1982. ‘Swayam Krushi’ in 1987, ‘Aapadbandhavudu,’ ‘Mantri Gari Viyyankudu’, ‘Khaidi’ .. All these characters came to me because of the intense passion that I have for the cinema,” he says.
Megastar continued, “As the years progressed, I happened to think from the audiences’ perspective, what’s their requirement? The responsbility becomes bigger as you grow as a star. More than my personal and professional satisfaction, I wanted to look into the other side of it. I felt this should be my primary responsibility as an actor. Producers, buyers and distributors should all be inclusive in the process,” he added.
Speaking on what made him to accept the role in ‘Waltair Veerayya’, Chiru says, “After I made a comeback with the film ‘Khaidi 150’, I’ve been longing to a freedom fighter’s character, that’s when I did ‘Sye Ra Narasimha Reddy’. There was a different shade to ‘God Father’. But ‘Waltair Veerayya’ is an attempt to deliver what the masses are expecting. It has the shades of my older films ‘Rowdy Alludu’, ‘Gharana Mogudu’, ‘Muta Mestri’ and ‘Annayya’. The film gave me a chance to lookback the characters that I did 30 years ago,” he smiles.
