Waltair Veerayya Review 1

Sankranthi 2023 is here and multiple biggies are releasing one after the other. Next in line is megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya. Read our review to find out if the film has any juice in it or not.

Plot

A terrorist Solomon(Bobby Simha) kills innocent cops in Vizag and leaves for Malaysia. The station head goes to Waltair Veerayya(Chiranjeevi) and asks for help to nab the terrorist. Veerayya reaches Malaysia but he has a personal mission that is related to Sagar(Ravi Teja) and has a connection with Solomon. What is that connection? and how did Veeraya take his revenge? This is the basic crux of the film.

Performances

Chiranjeevi is still having the grace even at the age of 60 plus. He does not shy away one bit from dancing or doing stylish fights. His comedy timing is at its peak with this film and the fun banters with Ravi Teja were very good. Speaking of Ravi Teja, he is shown in a more serious avatar in this film and he means business. His song with Chiranjeevi will be a feast for the fans. Shruthi Haasan is nice in her surprise role. Vennela Kishore evoked good comedy.

Analysis

Bobby has made sure that he showcases Chiranjeevi in a way that we have all wanted to for a long time now. He keeps the promise and presents Chiru in a mass avatar and the fans will like it too. The film starts on a fun note and once it shifts to Malaysia, things start working. Though there is a comedy, one gets a feeling that it should have been more.

The second half is where the fun begins as Ravi Teja enters the scene. The fun banter between the star heroes is quite cool and keeps the audience engaged. The timely songs by DSP are also one of the added bonuses. The interval bang is brought in quite nicely and sets the tone well.

Director Bobby has focused more on the fun part rather than the drama. The drama between the two brothers should have been better but it hurried up. The emotions look forced and there is no tension created between the hero and villain. Prakash Raj is way too routine in his role. This makes the proceedings a bit routine.

Waltair Veerayya has good visuals but its runtime is a big issue. There are no startling scenes that the film has the songs and fights are well composed. Don’t go in expecting something very new. It is a very ordinary action drama as Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja level it up with their performances.

Bottom Line – For Chiranjeevi fans only

2.75/5
