Vishwambhara: Too many sets to spoil the film?

Megastar Chiranjeevi is gearing up for his next big movie, “Vishwambhara,” directed by Vassistha Mallidi, known for the movie “Bimbisara.” This film promises to be a high-energy socio-fantasy extravaganza, filled with stunning visual effects. Recently, the team wrapped up shooting the intense interval sequence during a 26-day schedule.

The latest buzz reveals that the talented art director AS Prakash has meticulously crafted 17 distinct sets for the film. Shooting has already been completed in 9 of these sets, which were erected in Annapurna Studios, Hyderabad. The remaining 8 sets will soon see action.

However, there’s a factor to consider: Chiranjeevi, despite being a stalwart of Tollywood, has faced setbacks in recent years. His comeback saw a string of flops, with only Waltair Veeraya managing to break even. Furthermore, audiences are now placing greater interest on the quality of a film’s story rather than its budget. Given these circumstances, the decision to erect 17 sets for the film could result in significant budgetary strain. Therefore, even if Vishwambhara manages to achieve commercial success, its profitability could be compromised if it fails to generate substantial box office revenue due to its high production costs.

Also, this scenario mirrors Chiranjeevi’s previous film, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, which, despite its success, struggled to recoup its costs. Consequently, Vishwambhara faces similar challenges.

In terms of casting, Trisha Krishnan joins the ensemble as the female lead, alongside Ramya Pasupaleti, Esha Chawla, and Ashrita Vemuganti Nanduri in key roles. Backed by UV Creations, this ambitious project boasts music by the Oscar-winning MM Keeravaani. Fans can anticipate its theatrical release on January 10, 2025.
