‘PekaMedalu’ is a film directed by Neelagiri Mamilla, starring Vinod Kishan and Anusha Krishna of ‘Na Peru Shiva’ and ‘Andagaram’ fame. It is known that Sethupathi gained recognition in the film ‘Baahubali’ and he also produced the film ‘Evvarikee Cheppoddu ‘ under the banner of Crazy Ants Productions which went on to become a hit. The teaser of the film ‘Peka Medalu’ produced by him was released in Hyderabad recently. VishwakSen, who was present as the chief guest, released the teaser.

Producer Rakesh Varre said: Three years after I made ‘Evvarikee Cheppoddu’, I came up with Pekamedalu. I didn’t get help from people who assured me of help with my first film. ‘Evvarikee Cheppoddu’ was released with the help of Sasikiran Tikka, Rahul Sankrityayan, Tarun Bhaskar Dassyam, Sukumar, and Koratala Siva. It was to be disposed off within three days, but it played for 30 days in theatres. Now the same movie has become popular on Netflix.”
Director Neelagiri, who played various roles as a child artiste, has come up as a filmmaker. Dikshutulu was our master. I was interested in film direction while I was in acting school. I worked as an assistant director under Anish Kuruvilla. That’s when this story came to my mind. How would Basti’s life be? How do they build a house of dreams with a pack of cards? This is a story that everyone faces in life.”
