Plot
Veerayya(Samuthirakani) is a handicapped man who cleans bathrooms. He is a single father and shares a lovely relationship with his son Raju who loves flying on an airplane. One fine day, his son gets diagnosed with cancer and this breaks the heart of Veerayya. His only aim in life is to take his son on a plane. But he has no money and how will fulfill his son’s wish is the story of Vimanam.
Performances
Samuthirkani who plays negative roles dons a positive role for the first time. He as a doting father, and look wise his character is very good. The manner in which he approaches his role was also neat. But his performances in all the emotional scenes could have been a lot better. Anasuya looks vulgar as a prostitute and it is hard to understand why she even accepted the role. Rahul Ramakrishna and Dhanraj were very good in their roles.

Analysis
Vimanam is a film that has a simple story. A father is in a helpless position and wants to help his son achieve his dream. But he is poor and this has been showcased right from when were small. So what’s new in Vimanam? It is is Samuthirakani who is new and he makes things look perfect when it comes to the casting department.
Only when he is shown speaking with his son, Vimanam makes for a lovely watch. But when he is not on screen, things are so bad that one cannot imagine. Anasuya plays a prostitute and she sleeps for 1000 bucks and Rahul Ramakrishna is seen as a man who wants to bed her. All the scenes that show this look cheap and vulgar and it is sad that Anasuya is shown like that.
The production values and other aspects are neat but the editing is very bad. The director Shiva has worked on TV before and his emotions in a few areas are that of TV shows and cheap comedies. Such is the pace of the film. But it is the climax that makes a lot of sense and ends the film well. But it is very late by then and bores the audience completely.
Bottom Line- Old-school emotions
