Vijay Sethupathi known for his acting prowess keeps his personal life private. This choice likely helps protect his family from unwanted attention and social judgment. Despite his fame, not much is publicly known about his life at home. He seldom appears in public with his wife and children, maintaining a happy and low-key family life with his wife, Jessy, for over twenty years. They have two children, a son and a daughter.

How They Met?

Before his film career, Vijay did various odd jobs to earn money. He worked as a salesman, a cashier at a fast food place, and even at a phone booth. He graduated from Dhanraj Baid Jain College in Thoraipakam and later moved to Dubai to work as an accountant, a job that paid four times more than his jobs in India. It was during this period that he met Jessy online.

Their relationship quickly blossomed as they found common ground in their values and interests. Vijay often credits Jessy for being his biggest supporter, encouraging him to follow his dreams in cinema. In an interview with Onmanorama, he said, “I don’t think I would have made it this far in films had she not supported and encouraged me.” Not many know that Vijay was only 23 when he got married.

Initially, both Vijay and Jessy’s families were unhappy with their relationship. It took considerable persuasion for them to gain their families’ approval for their wedding. Interestingly, Vijay first saw Jessy on their engagement day. They now have two children, Surya Sethupathi and Shreeja Sethupathi.
