The highly anticipated movie Family Star, featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur, is set to hit theaters on April 5th. The pre-release event for the film was celebrated grandly, with the team exuding confidence in their project. However, despite the enthusiasm, the advance bookings for the movie have been disappointing, which comes as a shock to both the team and the audience.
Vijay Deverakonda’s movies usually enjoy strong opening numbers, but Family Star seems to be struggling in this aspect. The film boasts a promising combination with director Parasuram, known for the blockbuster Geetha Govindam. However, as of Wednesday, the advance bookings in Hyderabad city have only amounted to 71 Lakhs, significantly lower than the figures for Vijay Deverakonda’s previous films like Liger and Kushi.
Even in the U.S., Family Star is lagging behind in advance bookings compared to Vijay Deverakonda’s past successes. The movie has only managed $85K in advance bookings, while Liger and Kushi had achieved $250K by the same point.
The lackluster performance in bookings can be attributed to the underwhelming reception of the movie’s trailer and songs, which failed to generate significant hype among the audience. Meanwhile, another film, Tillu Square, has garnered positive reviews and is performing exceptionally well at the box office, nearing the 100 crore mark within its opening weekend.
Given the strong competition and the potential for negative word-of-mouth, “Family Star” faces an uphill battle to surpass the success of Tillu Square. It remains to be seen whether the film can overcome these challenges and win over audiences by gaining positive response.
