Lockdown and bleak future of theatrical release have made many filmamakers to go for a digital release. Now, Disney+Hotstar has seven films lines for big releases. Now, the OTT platform conducted a virtual press meet which was attended by Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn, and was hosted by Varun Dhawan. However, other two films – Kunal Khemu and Vidyut Jammwal also set for OTT release were not invited for the big announcement. The two actors took to social media expressing regret about the snub.
Kunal wrote, “Izzat aur pyaar maanga nahi kamaya jaata hai. Koi na de toh usse hum chhote nahi hote. Bas maidaan khelne ke liye barabar de do chhalaang hum bhi oonchi laga sakte hai (sic),” While Vidyut retweeting trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweet, wrote, “A BIG announcement for sure!! 7 films scheduled for release but only 5 are deemed worthy of representation. 2 films, receive no invitation or intimation. It’s a long road ahead. THE CYCLE CONTINUES (sic).”
