Ustaad Bhagat Singh gets a much-needed wake-up call
The Bollywood film Baby John which is a remake of Vijay’s blockbuster Theri has hit theaters with high expectations. Directed by Kallis and produced by Atlee, the movie featured Varun Dhawan in the lead role with Keerthy Suresh as the heroine. Despite heavy promotions, the movie opened to mixed reviews.
Fans who loved the original Theri found similarities in most scenes as Atlee made only minor changes to the story. While Varun Dhawan gave a solid performance, critics noted that he lacked the charismatic style and swag that Vijay brought to the original. However, the movie was bolstered by Thaman’s powerful background score, lavish production values, and a special cameo by Salman Khan. For viewers who haven’t seen Theri, Baby John serves as a decent commercial entertainer, but it doesn’t add anything innovative for fans of the original.

Meanwhile, many are commenting that the film serves as a lesson for the upcoming remake Ustad Bhagat Singh, starring Pawan Kalyan and directed by Harish Shankar. The film is also said to be a remake of Theri. While fans of Pawan Kalyan are optimistic due to Harish Shankar’s knack for creative storytelling, there’s still concern after seeing Baby John’s reception. The pressure is on to ensure Ustad Bhagat Singh avoids similar pitfalls by introducing fresh ideas and adapting the narrative to fit the Telugu audience.
So, we have to wait and see whether Baby John’s shortcomings will prompt Harish Shankar to abandon the idea of a remake and opt for a unique script for Ustaad Bhagat Singh or if he will take the lessons learned and transform the script into something extraordinary. Only time will tell if Ustaad Bhagat Singh becomes a fresh and innovative masterpiece or another remake that struggles to leave an impact.
