US elections 2024:
As the Indian-American community grows in influence, the Telugu population has become an important part of U.S. elections. But who are they supporting in 2024? The opinions within the community are divided.
According to recent surveys, many Telugu-speaking men, particularly those in the IT sector or running businesses, prefer Donald Trump. They are not satisfied with Joe Biden’s presidency and see Trump’s economic policies as the change they need. Trump’s focus on economic growth and business-friendly strategies resonates with this group, giving him an edge among male voters.
On the other hand, many Telugu women are supporting Kamala Harris. They are drawn to her stance on reproductive rights, which they feel are at risk if Trump returns to power. Additionally, the fact that Harris is of Indian origin serves as an inspiration to them, especially with the possibility of a woman of Indian descent in the White House.
Many Indian-Americans, including Telugu voters, have already cast their votes through early voting and drop boxes due to their busy schedules. Early voting allows them to avoid long lines on election day, making the process more convenient.
With Indian-Americans being the second-largest immigrant group in the U.S., they hold significant voting power. With around 2.5 million eligible voters, their choice could have a major impact on the outcome of this unpredictable election.
As the race tightens, the Telugu community’s vote will be critical in deciding who will lead the country for the next four years.
