US-China trade war intensifies with fresh tariff battle

Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently claimed that China is suffering more than the United States due to the ongoing tariff war. According to Trump, his administration introduced strong economic policies to protect American interests and bring back jobs and investments.

On his social media platform, Trump stated that many countries, especially China, have treated the U.S. unfairly for decades. He mentioned that America was once like a helpless victim in global trade. However he insisted that this situation has now changed due to the bold moves taken by his government.

Trump highlighted that more than five trillion dollars of investments have already come into the U.S., which he described as part of an “economic revolution.” He assured the American public that although the process may be tough, the results will be historic. He ended his post with a promise to “Make America Great Again.”

China, reacting to U.S. tariffs, announced an additional 34% tariff on all American goods, effective from April 10. In response Trump said that China had panicked and made the wrong move adding that such a step could hurt China more than the U.S.

Meanwhile, China’s foreign ministry warned it would continue to take strong measures to defend its national interests. It also urged the U.S. to stop using tariffs as a tool to pressure China’s economy.
