Kajal Aggarwal, who will be seen playing the lead role in filmmaker Tathagata Singha’s Uma, has begun shooting for the film in Kolkata. The start-to-finish schedule of the film started in the city on Monday (July 5). Uma also stars acclaimed actors like Meghana Malik, Harsh Chhaya, Tinnu Anand, Ayushi Talokdar, Gaurav Sharma and Shriswara in pivotal roles. The film is being bankrolled by Avishek Ghosh and Mantaraj Paliwal from Miraj Group.
Touted to be a fantasy feel-good film, Kajal is said to be playing a character that is something similar to Mary Poppins. Talking about the film, Kajal Aggarwal said, “I have recently signed Uma. It’s a Mary Poppins kind of film, where fantasy meets reality and I play the title role of Uma and I am currently preparing for it. I keep having a lot of Zoom discussions with my director to understand how he envisages the character. Uma is basically a ray of sunshine and helps people deal with their problems through folktales. That’s what my character is in a nutshell. There are several layers and dimensions to Uma but I won’t be able to divulge much right now.”
Apart from Uma, Kajal Aggarwal has a number of films from down South. She has Hey Sinamika with Dulquer Salmaan, Acharya with Chiranjeevi, a fantasy horror-thriller Ghosty, and another horror thriller with Deekay in the pipeline.
