Imagine booking a simple auto ride through Uber and receiving a bill worth crores of rupees! This unimaginable scenario became a reality for Deepak Tenguriya, a regular Uber customer, who was left stunned when he received a bill of 7.66 crore after what seemed like a routine ride in the early hours of Friday.

Deepak, like any other day, booked an auto ride using the Uber India app for a mere Rs 62. However, upon reaching his destination, he was hit with a whopping bill of 7.66 crore. This unexpected turn of events left Deepak bewildered and confused.

In a video shared by his friend Ashish Mishra on social media, Deepak could be heard expressing his shock at the outrageous bill. When asked about the amount by Ashish, Deepak revealed, “Rs 7,66,83,762.” The breakdown of the bill showed a trip fare of Rs 1,67,74,647 and a waiting time cost of Rs 5,99,09189, with a small deduction of Rs 75 as a promotion cost.

The video quickly went viral, drawing attention to Uber’s billing glitch and raising concerns among users about the reliability of the platform’s fare calculation system. In response to the uproar, Uber India’s Customer Support page on social media issued an apology and assured users that they were investigating the matter.

“Hey, sorry to hear about the trouble. Please allow us some time while we are looking into this issue for you. We will get back to you with an update,” read Uber India’s official response.

Uber’s irresponsibility has undoubtedly turned heads, sparking concern among users about the reliability of the platform’s billing system.
