Trisha dominates Tamil cinema’s 200-crore club
Trisha, once considered to be fading from the limelight due to underperforming films like Mohini and Nayaki, has revived her career with her role in 96. Since then, she has been choosing strong, impactful roles and appearing in several commercially successful films. Interestingly, all Tamil films that have grossed over 200 crores feature her in significant roles.
Leo (2023), starring Vijay and Trisha, is currently the highest-grossing Tamil film, earning around 230 crores in Tamil Nadu alone. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, this film solidified her place in the industry once again. Another major success was Ponniyin Selvan 1, which also included Trisha alongside stars like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, and Karthi. The film earned 220 crores, becoming the second-highest grosser.
Thalapathy Vijay’s recent film, The GOAT, which grossed 210 crores, also featured Trisha in a special performance. Her fans were thrilled to see her in a high-energy song called “Matta,” marking her return to performing dance numbers after a long hiatus. Although Jailer, starring Rajinikanth, fell short of the 200-crore mark, it still managed an impressive 185 crores.
Trisha’s upcoming films, Vidaa Muyarchi and Good, Bad, and Ugly, where she stars alongside Ajith, are expected to further boost her career. With her consistent performances in high-grossing films, Trisha has firmly established herself as a reigning star in Tamil cinema’s 200-crore club
