Sankranthi has always been a lucrative season for the film industry as multiple films release and makes merry at the box office. Last year, the industry saw some of the biggest hits in the form of Ala Vaikunthapuramlo and Sarileru Neekevvaru. This year, things were different and many were even doubtful whether any film would release during Sankranthi. But things have changed slowly and a few makers dared to release their films. As many as four films were out this year and we bring you their exact status at the box office.
Krack
This film was a do or die situation for Ravi Teja as he had given only flops. But the film was in news for many reasons. The songs and promos have clicked well and Shruthi Haasan was making a comeback along with Gopichand Malineni. The film started on a dull note as the first-day shows were canceled and only the film started with second shows. Since then, the film has received a positive response and collections have been steady to date. The film has made over 25 crores gross at the box office and is a clear Sankranthi winner this year.
Master
Master started with a lot of expectations and the openings were also solid. The film was bought for eight crores by Mahesh Koneru and he has happily recovered the money by now. Actually, the film would have made more money but as the film was panned by critics and a section of the audience, the collections fell down. But never the less, the film is in the safe zone now with some distributors even seeing good profits.
Red
This film was coming after the super success of Ram’s Ismart Shankar. The expectations were huge but the talk was very bad from day one. The critics panned the film for slow narration but the Sankranthi festival came in as a true savior as the film making 6.5 crores on day one and 4.6 crores on day 2. The third-day figures are over 3 crores and the film has made 13 crores already. The film was barely sold for 17 crores and in the days to come, it will also reach the safe zone.
