Tollywood’s top 5 directors taking over pan-Indian cinema
Tollywood is known for its high-impact films that have been successful not just in South India, but across the entire country. Recently, the second part of Pushpa joined the list of such pan-Indian hits, solidifying Tollywood’s presence in the national film industry. However, it’s not just the actors but also directors who are playing a major role in this success.
At the top of the list is SS Rajamouli, a pioneer in the pan-Indian cinema world. His films, like Baahubali and RRR, have redefined Indian cinema. Rajamouli opened the doors for other directors to venture into pan-Indian films. Close on his heels is Sukumar, who made a huge impact with the first Pushpa movie. The second part of Pushpa further cemented his position among the best, making him one of the most recognized directors in the industry.
Koratala Siva, known for his movie Devara, has also ventured into the pan-Indian scene. Though Devara didn’t bring him the success he expected, it still made him a notable figure in the industry. Despite not having the breakout success of his peers, Koratala remains a significant name in Tollywood.
Another director making waves is Sandeep Reddy Vanga. With his film Animal, Sandeep has captured the attention of a broader audience, making him one of the most sought-after directors in Indian cinema. He is expected to solidify his place in the industry with his upcoming project, Spirit.
Lastly, there’s Nag Ashwin, who gained recognition with Kalki. His success in larger markets has given him credibility in the pan-Indian scene. His next big project could determine his future success.
While Rajamouli remains the undisputed leader of the pack, Sukumar, Sandeep, Nag Ashwin, and Koratala are certainly making their mark. As Tollywood continues to grow, we may see even more directors entering the pan-Indian arena, further expanding the influence of Telugu cinema.
