TJ Gnanavel reveals details about his next with Suriya
Director TJ Gnanavel recently discussed his upcoming project with actor Suriya in an exclusive interview. After their critically acclaimed collaboration on Jai Bhim, the two are set to reunite for another film. Gnanavel mentioned that the start of the project depends on Suriya’s availability, as the actor is currently committed to other films. The two plan to meet in November to finalize details and schedule shooting.
The script for the new movie is already complete, and pre-production has begun. Gnanavel said they could start filming within three to four months, depending on Suriya’s dates. Unlike their previous film Jai Bhim, which dealt with themes of police and judicial matters, this new movie will have a completely different backdrop. It is based on a true story and an article that Gnanavel wrote during his time as a journalist.
Jai Bhim was a significant success, both critically and commercially, highlighting issues of police brutality and the challenges faced by marginalized communities. It featured Suriya in a lead role alongside actors like Lijomol Jose, Manikandan, and Prakash Raj. The movie, released on Amazon Prime Video in 2021, was based on a real-life case from 1993 in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu.
In addition to the upcoming project with Gnanavel, Suriya has several other films in the pipeline, including Kanguva and a collaboration with director RJ Balaji. Fans are eagerly awaiting more details about the new Gnanavel-Suriya project, as their previous work together set high expectations.
