OTT platforms like Amazon are not willing to buy films that cost more than three crore. If that makes sense in terms of viability, the producers also have realised the importance of producing films in a short budget after seeing the success of Krishna and His Leela, Bhanumati and Ramakrishna etc. The success of these projects has given immense confidence to producers that they can pull of a film with a little over a crore and sell it for a profit to the OTT platforms.
The producers who were earlier setting up projects with combinations and dates of stars have begun extensive meetings termed as pre production with mid range actors and tier 3 heroes. This is a great time to tap new talent too in the firm of artistes and technicians because plenty of short film makers are convincing the actors with their stories. If Tamanna can act with Satya Dev, imagine the scope that a digital release or a theatrical release has for an OTT remake movie.
Producers like Vamsi from Sitara Entertainments are doling out advances to heroes and blocking their space and dates; once some mitigation plan is in place, the shootings will take place. Almost every producer is acting sensibly, we are sure the results will be possible with a resurgence of stories and talent pushed behind all these years. Strangely, it is the stars this time who will perhaps be frustrated that they cannot utilise the space, but they have a way out too by turning producers for small films.
