Why Chiranjeevi declined to work with SS Rajamouli ?
SS Rajamouli is one of India’s most renowned filmmakers, known for delivering blockbuster films. Many actors dream of collaborating with him, but veteran Telugu actor Chiranjeevi once turned down an opportunity to work with him. His reason for rejecting the offer might surprise fans.
During an interview with Anupama Chopra, while promoting his film Godfather, Chiranjeevi revealed the reason behind his decision. He explained that Rajamouli takes years to complete a single project, whereas he prefers working on multiple films in the same period.
He stated, “The amount of time Rajamouli takes, I am not sure if I can commit to that. He invests four to five years in a single film, whereas I work on several projects simultaneously. Spending three to four years on one movie is not feasible for me.”
The actor further mentioned that proving himself at the national level was never his goal. He did not see working with Rajamouli as a necessity for success. Chiranjeevi remarked, “I don’t need to collaborate with SS Rajamouli to establish myself at the pan-India level. That is why I decided not to work with him.”
Despite Chiranjeevi’s stance, his son Ram Charan starred in Rajamouli’s RRR, which became a global sensation. The film was highly successful, earning critical acclaim and commercial success worldwide.
Although he has not worked with SS Rajamouli, Chiranjeevi continues to collaborate with talented filmmakers. He is currently working with Srikanth Odela and Anil Ravipudi on upcoming projects. Additionally, he is set to star in Mallidi Vassishta’s mythological action film Vishwambhara, which is expected to release later this year.
Meanwhile, Rajamouli is busy directing SSMB29, a highly anticipated film featuring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
