Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s performance in the track Oo Antava from Pushpa became one of her most iconic dance moments. But did you know the makers of the film weren’t initially sure if Samantha would be the right choice for the song? Music composer Devi Sri Prasad shared the behind-the-scenes details in a throwback interview.
In 2021, Devi Sri Prasad spoke to Bollywood Bubble about how the casting for the song happened. The team was trying to create a song that would be different from a typical item number. However, they were uncertain about who would perform it. Devi Sri Prasad revealed that while discussions were ongoing, they needed someone whose schedule would allow them to shoot quickly. That’s when the producer suggested Samantha’s name.
However, there were doubts about whether Samantha would agree to do an item song. Despite these concerns, everything fell into place, and within 10 to 15 days, Samantha agreed to join and shot the track. Devi Sri Prasad called it “pure magic” as the song turned out to be a huge hit.
Samantha’s performance in Oo Antava became a massive success, with fans continuing to enjoy the catchy beats and her captivating dance moves. Devi Sri Prasad’s music for Pushpa: The Rise was also a standout, earning him a National Award. Recently, Devi Sri Prasad made headlines again for responding to Pushpa 2’s producers after they blamed him for delays in the film. Despite some challenges, Devi Sri Prasad is back on board for Pushpa 2, which will release on December 5, 2024.
Unlike the prequel, this time Devi Sri Prasad is not the sole composer. He will be joined by Thaman and Sam CS in creating the soundtrack for the sequel.
Samantha, meanwhile, continues to be in the spotlight with new projects. She is currently working on the series Rakt Brahmand and will also appear in the Telugu film Maa Inti Bangaram. Fans are excited to see what comes next for the talented actress.
