Uppena and RX 100 are two films that scored blockbusters. But do you know a star hero who rejected these two films? Yes, what you heard is right, and it’s none other than Vijay Deverakonda.
Vijay Deverakonda, has made a name for himself through hard work and dedication. Despite his success, there have been instances where he turned down roles that later became hits. Let’s delve into some of these missed opportunities.
One such instance is the 2021 blockbuster Uppena. Director Buchi Babu Sana initially approached Vijay with the script when he was still climbing the ladder of fame. However, both Vijay and Buchi Babu felt that Vijay’s soaring popularity might overshadow the film’s essence. Consequently, the role went to Vaishnav Tej, who made an impressive debut, leading the movie to success.
Similarly, the 2018 film RX 100 was another project Vijay passed on. Kartikeya Gummakonda took on the role, which became a significant milestone in his career. Director Ajay Bhupathi’s bold storytelling captured attention, despite facing rejections from other actors, including Sharwanand. Vijay, too, declined the role, perhaps due to its resemblance to his previous hit, Arjun Reddy.
Meanwhile, the actor is facing back-to-back disasters in recent times. After “Geetha Govindam,” he has not seen a single hit. Though “Kushi” gave him an average hit, his past film “Family Star” stood as a disaster. So now, the actor pins all his hopes on upcoming films, as he has three projects in the pipeline.
