Rumors are swirling about a potential collaboration between Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj. If the reports are accurate, this project could be a major pan-Indian film, bringing together the worlds of Bollywood, Tollywood, and Kollywood.
The film is said to be produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the same production house behind the successful Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun. The combination of Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj is creating significant buzz in the Indian film industry.
Aamir Khan’s last film, Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), did not perform well at the box office leading the actor to take a break. After a two-year hiatus, he is returning with Sitaare Zamin Par, a remake of the Spanish sports comedy Campeones. The film is set for a Christmas release this year, a date that has historically been lucky for Aamir. Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zamin Par also stars Genelia D’Souza with music composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
The potential collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj could be a significant move for Aamir, who is looking to regain his box-office dominance. Unlike his contemporaries Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, who have recently worked with top South Indian filmmakers, Aamir has been missing a big-ticket project. If this rumored film with Lokesh Kanagaraj materializes, it could mark a major comeback for Aamir in the Indian film industry.
Lokesh Kanagaraj has become a well-known name in South Indian cinema, thanks to his successful films like Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. These films are part of what is known as the Lokesh Kanagaraj Universe (LCU), a series of interconnected stories featuring some of the biggest names in South Indian cinema, including Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Suriya, Karthi, and Fahadh Faasil. His next project within the LCU is expected to be Kaithi 2 starring Karthi.
There is speculation about whether the Aamir Khan project will also be included in the LCU. However, no official confirmation has been made. Reports have suggested that another film, Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, will not be a part of the LCU, leading to curiosity about how the Aamir-Lokesh project will be positioned.
