Thalapathy Vijay’s much-anticipated film, The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), is set for release on September 5, 2024. The movie holds a special place in the hearts of Vijay’s fans, especially since it’s one of his last major projects before diving into politics. However, recent reports reveal that Vijay wasn’t the original choice for the lead role in the film.
According to reports, director Venkat Prabhu initially planned to cast Rajinikanth and Dhanush in the film. Rajinikanth was to play the father, while Dhanush would portray the son. However, the director later decided to use de-aging technology to have one actor play both roles. This led to Vijay being cast in the double roles instead of the original actors.
In the film, Vijay plays two characters: the father, Gandhi and his son Jeevan. The movie’s trailer has already teased the high-octane action and stunts fans can expect. Although the storyline had to be slightly adjusted to suit Vijay, the director promises that the film’s twists and turns will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Director Venkat Prabhu has even challenged viewers, saying, You can’t predict the next scene, and you can’t tell where the film is headed. This unpredictability, he says, is what makes GOAT stand out, comparing it to his earlier hit Mankatha but on steroids.
While fans eagerly await the release, the casting decisions and the use of de-aging technology have only added to the buzz surrounding the film.
