Telugu filmmakers frightened to announce pan-India projects

Apparently, Telugu producers and filmmakers are rather concerned about announcing pan-India projects or at least using the term for their films. That’s because of the latest trend in which Telugu films have become disasters elsewhere in other languages.

Latest at the box office, Natural Star Nani’s ‘Dasara’ and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s ‘Shaakuntalam’ are the examples. They were first projected as pan-India films, but the reality was different when these films finally hit theatres. They were affected badly.

Although Nani’s film ‘Dasara’ is raved about its making style in the Telugu States, the film didn’t was a disaster as a pan-India film. Meanwhile, Samantha’s much-hyped epic drama ‘Shaakuntalam’ was released last week with staggering expectations but the audience didn’t like it, and now the makers are struggling to recover money and went into hideout just to save their faces.

Lessons have been learnt with Ravi Teja’s ‘Ravanasura’. And young hero Vishwak Sen’s ‘Dhamki’. There’s another big film from the Akkineni family titled ‘Agent’ starring Akhil. What if the film experiences the same fate as the other films did. So it is not good practice to project every film as pan-India one.
