Small-time actress Sri Reddy has been kicked up a storm in the Telugu industry alleging the existence of casting couch and questioning of girls being imported from other regions over picking up actresses from Telugu state. The actress as warned earlier went ahead with her protest outside the Telugu Films Chamber of Commerce at the Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad by going topless. The actress said that she chose this method to vent out her grief and frustration against casting couch and the exploitation of Telugu girls on the promise of film offers.
“This is the only way I can think of expressing my grief. If I have shown myself nude to several people in the film industry and despite that have got no roles, the only way I can protest is by going nude publicly,” she said.
She added that despite doing three films and having applied for Movie Artistes Association (MAA) membership, she hasn’t been given membership. Meanwhile, the situation came under control after K Srinivas, Inspector Banjara Hills intervened. “We reached the spot soon after receiving information and shifted her from there. She staged a protest raising many grievances. We counselled her before shifting her,” said Srinivas.
