Telangana State is not just one of 28 States in the country. It has a glorious history of two thousand years.
Geographically it is in the Deccan plateau. Even after attaining independence, Telangana continues to be an independent region under Hyderabad. After independence and becoming a part of India, based on the Telugu language, a separate state formed as United Andhra Pradesh which includes Telangana, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra.
After a revolution for separate State for decades, Telangana was recognised as a State on June 2, 2014. Telangana is a land of rich culture and heritage. It has a rich history of Satavahanas and has many proofs that this region played crucial part during Ramayana – Mahabharatha periods and during Kakatiyas’ glorious rule.
The first Telugu Poet Bammera Pothana. The first female warrior in South India, was Rudrama Devi. First Telugu Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao belongs to Telangana. Many selfless souls have fought for separate Telangana sacrificing their lives. To celebrate some of their lives and remember their sacrifices, a web series titled ‘Telangana Thyagadhanulu’ is launched on June 4. The theme song for the web series has also been launched.
Speaking during the event, director Nagabala Suresh Kumar said the webseries ‘Telangana Thyagadhanulu’ is aimed at celebrating people who sacrificed their lives for the State. To let the world know about Telangana’s history, we have decided to come up with a web series to cater to everyone’s home theatre, OTT.”
The director says that he is unsure whether the story becomes 50 episodes in 10 seasons or 500 episodes in 100 seasons. “Telangana’s history is massive so much so that it keeps finding more great things as we dig further. This should not be restricted to a particular region; it must be known to the audience at the national level. Producer Vijay Kumar garu deserves all accolades for coming forward to make a great series but not profits. I thank lyricist Venigalla Rambabu garu and composer Khuddus garu for giving such a great song which is loved by everyone here.”
Appreciating the effort of the director’s vision, producer V Vijay Kumar said ‘Telangana Tyagadhanulu’ is made not to make profits out of it but to give a helping hand to the needy film artistes. “I have been in the real-estate business for the last 30 years. I earned the confidence of my customers. Now, I want to help the needy. So, on my last birthday, I donated free land to 101 TV artistes, and technicians in the presence of retired IAS Dr KV Ramana Chari garu and Minnister Talasani Srinivas Yadav garu. Nagabala Suresh garu came up with the proposal for a web series. I can’t make money out of it, because it is not commercial film. Only a few subjects remain forever in history.”
