In a first-time-ever n the country, Telangana speaker Madhusudhana Chary has been issued show cause notice by the Hyderabad High court for disobeying its orders. The summons was issued by Justice B Siva Sankara Rao. The Justice asked the speaker to explain why he didn’t revoke the disqualification of the two Congress MLAs — Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar after the court’s order. Reportedly, this is the first time in the country that a speaker has been given contempt notice.
Contempt Notice Against Speaker Madhusudhana Chary
Speaker S Madhusudana Chary should present himself before the Judge before August 28 as to why he shouldn’t have been issue contempt notice. The Congress MLAs were expelled in March from the Assembly during the BUdget session where they flung microphone and had hurt the Speakers’ eyes. To this, the MLAs appealed in the Court; as the government failed to provide evidence against the two, the Court ordered them to revoke the expulsion.
Interestingly, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has termed High Court’s interference inlegislativee matters as “incorrect”.
