Hyderabad-based fashion designer Ashwini Reddy has showcased her latest collection ‘Tilottama’ at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer Resort 2018 held at Mumbai. And Tamannaah Bhatia was the showstopper and wore a delicately embroidered, ruffled blouse teamed with a bright-red skirt, with gold embellishments, and a champagne coloured dupatta.
Speaking on the collection, designer Ashwini Reddy elaborates, “Our muse is a bride or bridesmaid who represents our clothes, embroidery in a divine and delicate way. We have brought a slight modern touch to the mythological character, trying to balance between elegance and tinsel with the best of ethnic and fusion wear, making it apt for today’s generation.”
Adding to this, showstopper Tamannah Bhatia iterates, “It gives me immense pleasure to be walking for Ashwini’s debut at the Lakme Fashion Week. Her work focuses on creating new embellishments and innovative textures. I love the way she has brought in drama in each piece, yet keeping it as subtle as it could be. This collection gives you a very dreamy summer wedding feel, and that is what makes it so special.”
Ashwini has gone from lighter to darker tones – ivory, baby pink to olive green and deep blue. While the showstopper garment is that of a typical bride with a slight contemporary touch brought in through the ruffled sleeves. The fabrics are flowy with a lot of organza and nets, raw silk and pure silk with embellishments of zardozi, cut daana, and flat pita work extended to floral prints – all which represent our olden traditions.
