Suriya got paid 3 times less than Jyotika for a super-hit film?
In a recent interview, actor Suriya shared a surprising story about his early days in the industry. He revealed that during the making of the hit Tamil film Kaakha Kaakha (2003), his wife Jyotika earned three times the salary he received for the film. Suriya expressed that he was happy for Jyotika but also realized where he stood in his career at that time.
Suriya mentioned that while Jyotika was being paid much more, it made him reflect on his own career and earnings. He also noted how grateful he was that she chose to be part of his life, with both their families supporting their relationship. Despite the salary difference, Suriya felt proud of her success and acknowledged the journey they were both on.

Kaakha Kaakha is a Tamil-language action thriller that became a major success. It tells the story of Anbuselvan, an IPS officer played by Suriya, who is dedicated to ending organized crime. Jyotika plays a school teacher who falls in love with him amidst his dangerous mission. The film was directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and went on to inspire remakes in other languages, including the Telugu version Gharshana and the Bollywood film Force.
Looking ahead, Suriya is set to star in the fantasy action film Kanguva, releasing on November 14, 2024. This movie will also feature Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in important roles.
