Director Pradeep Krishnamurthy’s remake film ‘Kapatadhaari’ (Kavuladhaari – Kannada) is ready. The film wrapped up shooting before lockdown and only in May, the post production started. The filmmaker adapted the screenplay, made a lot of changes. It is a crime thriller, about a young traffic cop who discovers skeletons and is obsessed with solving the case. Pradeep tells Klapboardpost.com, “It is 2 hours 20 minutes, so we cut it short by ten minutes. It is a bi-lingual (Tamil and Telugu).
Vennela Kishore is playing an important role, in Tamil we roped in a new guy. The producer G Dhananjayan brought the rights. My first film is Saitaan/Bethaaludu. The second is the Kshanam remake in Tamil and this is my third film. We actually started the film hoping for a theatrical release, we didn’t anticipate this pandemic. We can see the film in Kannada with subtitles in all languages but I can say for sure that Kapatadhaari will give a new experience. Nandita Swetha and Nasser are an asset. Sumanth looks and acts differently, he is brilliant in the movie. We finished the film in 61 days, it is easy for me to shoot thrillers. Saithaan is my own film, the rest are something offered to me by others but I did find it interesting. We shot in Hyderabad and Chennai. Kapatadhaari is a person who looks good but they are actually bad.” The original film did extremely well in Kannada and that prompted the producers to purchase the rights.
