When director of Uppena, Bucchi Babu Sana wanted to enter TFI, he went into an introspection to understand if he is indeed bitten by the cinema bug or if he is merely inspired by Sukumar who was his once upon a time lecturer. He tells klapboardpost.com, “I was in confusion, there was no clarity. Then one fine day, Sukumar sir called me and gave an example of a leaf. He said the leaf is about to fall, it may fall today or tomorrow. A heavy wind forces the fall of the leaf, similarly you might have a passion for cinema in you but that just got ignited after seeing me. He explained it to me perfectly and I knew I was in the right place.”
The director states cinematographer Shamdatt had done extraordinary work in capturing the visuals, had worked in over 15 films, his first film being Prasthanam and the latest being Nani-Nagarjuna film Devadas. Producers Ravi and Naveen had been extremely warm to him and after shooting was done for the day, they would call him over the phone and enquire about work, his well-being and tell him not to get stressed.
Bucchi Babu adds, “Naveen is more like a child. He stays in the US. He would call daily as if he were speaking to his girlfriend. Now it’s a complete lockdown for the film, we don’t know how the situation would turn up but their love is still the same for me.
