It is not enough if our stars throw a Green Challenge at each other during the monsoon and pose for a perfect photo-op. They should ensure the plant is taken care of and pose for a picture every year to show if that plant has grown and has been taken care of. Thousands of plants die of neglect the next week after plantation.

We agree this drive is meant to inspire people to grow more plants but it helps if we teach the younger generation to plant a sapling and take pride in its growth. It is nice to note that Sharwanand had announced his decision to adopt a park, what we would be interested in is his next move of following up. Many actors are posting pictures of their farms and their gardens and it is definitely a great initiative and the need of the hour.
The pandemic has compelled people to think and rethink the importance of food scarcity. If we don’t have our own terrace gardens and farms, very soon we would be shelling out half our salaries on grocery and vegetables as prices keep soaring.
